SmartCareAI translates evidence to action.

SmartCareAI wasn’t built by starting with an algorithm and searching for a clinical application. Born at Stanford, it grew from more than 15 years of research focused on one of healthcare’s hardest problems: how to recognize time-sensitive clinical risk early and reliably translate evidence into action inside complex care environments.

Non-dilutive research funding has supported the scientific foundation underlying this work — from understanding how patients present and where opportunities for earlier recognition occur, to developing and validating predictive approaches, integrating real-time clinical data, and studying how technology can be implemented safely within health-system workflows.

Maame Yaa “Maya” Yiadom

MD, MPH, MSCI

Seeing the challenges from inside the care system

For more than two decades, Dr. Maame Yaa “Maya” Yiadom has cared for patients in emergency departments where minutes can change outcomes. She saw a persistent challenge: medicine often knew what should happen, and clinicians were working hard to make it happen, yet the complexity of care meant that the right pathway did not always begin at the right moment for every patient.

Clinical workflow-based investigation to identify root causes

Her research followed the problem—from understanding differences in how patients with time-sensitive conditions are recognized, to developing predictive approaches, to bringing clinical AI into real health-system workflows. Each step revealed the next challenge.

AI-powered solutions to resolve pain points and gaps in care

SmartCareAI grew from that realization. Today, the company is building operational intelligence infrastructure designed to help health systems turn evidence-based protocols into reliable action. It is starting with acute coronary syndrome and built to extend across time-sensitive care.
